ONVIF Camera Reference Design

Updated: Apr 17

ONVIF is an open industry forum that provides and promotes standardized interfaces for effective interoperability of IP-based physical security products. It standardizes communication for access control, recorders, IP cameras among others.

RidgeRun knows how important time to market is when developing a new product. For that reason we are always looking for new ways of helping you get you to production faster and with the highest quality. With that in mind, we developed our ONVIF Device Server Library in the past which abstracts all the complexity involved in the ONVIF Standard implementation and lets you focus on what makes your product unique. But we didn’t stop there and created our ONVIF Reference Design.

ONVIF Reference Design is an implementation, based in our ONVIF Device Server Library, that turns any Jetson Board into an ONVIF Profile S compatible camera. All you have to do is put the reference design into your board, as simple as that. All the onboard cameras will be seen as ONVIF compatible cameras.

You will also have control of some of the capabilities of your cameras through the provided web interface.

Some of the main features are:

  • Works Out-of-the-box

  • Configuration access through a web interface

  • The exposed cameras are configurable

  • Auto-Discovery

  • Easily extended for other platforms
